The Most Powerful Brands on YouTube

Is it really surprising that toy and kid video content is on the rise this summer?

We all got to seize the moment, right? And for marketers, this strange period in time brought with it too many weird and unexpected such moments. Which, in turn, handed us plenty to seize.

For some brands, though, it was easier than others. And when millions are stuck at home, trying to work while keeping their kids entertained, is there any surprise that brands aimed at kids seem to be conquering YouTube this summer?

Yeah, we didn’t think so.

Still, some are seizing it better than others. Here’s a quick recap of the most popular brands based on YT views. 4 of 5 of them make content for kids.

1st Place – Lego

The iconic toymaker hit a record high 10.4 billion views on YouTube as of June 2020, making the Danish building block company, the most popular brand on the social video sharing site.

The news comes after Lego has taken action by helping out numerous matters that hit society this year. At the start of the pandemic, the brand turned its efforts to help combat the spread of COVID-19; in March, Lego donated $50 Million through the Lego Foundation to support children in need in these unprecedented times.

They also launched a #LetsBuildTogether campaign across their social media accounts, including Instagram, to inspire fun ways to play and learn at home:

A Lego factory in Billund, Denmark, converted a number of its molding machines to produce more than 13,000 face shields a day for Danish Health Authorities.

More recently, Lego also took a stance in the wake of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement following the police killing of George Floyd, by showing support for social minorities and racial justice on their social media accounts. The brand donated $4 Million to organizations dedicated to supporting children of color.

Overall, fantastic work to be helpful, stay relevant, and make the most out of the situation, and keeping the momentum that the Lego films helped create.

2nd Place – Vat19

The kid-friendly channel obtained 5.84 billion views on YouTube this summer. Not only does the brand offer gummy candies, toys, puzzles, games, clothing, and so much more to shop for – it also has fun videos to watch, including challenges, video game contests, experiments, competitions, and more. With almost half of Lego’s views, they must be doing something right.

3rd Place – IDJVideos.TV

Next in line is the video production company specializing in music videos production, IDJVideos, with 4.49 billion views. It has become the most popular, most watched, well-organized, and youngest fast-growing video production company in the Balkans – as they put it on Facebook. Not quite for the toddler, but indeed capturing the attention of a bit older studying-from-home demographic.

4th Place – Angry Birds

With a little more than 4 million subscribers, the gigantic game-based brand gets to number 4 with 4.46b views.

Like Lego, they too ride the success of animated feature films and using their characters to tell gazillions of different stories.

The Angry Birds Toons series has three seasons for viewers to watch as well as engaging video content on how to play the video game, game reactions, drawing tutorials, and so much more.

5th Place – Kids TV HD EggVideos

Videos by Kids TV HD EggVideos were not far behind with 4.25b views on YouTube. This brand offers children cartoon animation rhymes and songs, upbeat color, and number songs that are meant to be educational. Translation: less guilt when you put your kid in front of it for half a day straight.
