It recently joined The Valuable 500 movement to put people living with disabilities on the business leadership plan since there are still challenging environments where minorities cannot get leadership roles within the organization.

Launched two years ago with the goal of getting 500 companies onboard to pledge to disability inclusion, The Valuable 500 has finally reached its goal.

“At Sephora, we have a long-term commitment to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in all aspects of our business, ensuring that our colleagues, brand partners, suppliers and our clients feel a sense of belonging in store, online and in our workplaces,” the company wrote on LinkedIn.

Taking The 15 Percent Pledge, Too

Sephora acknowledges that to understand its customer base better and grow faster, it must fully represent all customers who shop at the brand.

Through its dedication towards true D&I, it recently announced that 25 percent of its offering would be dedicated to BIPOC-owned brands by 2026.

Joining other giant retailers, Sephora Canada has taken the 15 Percent Pledge (even surpassing it). A movement initiated by Canadian fashion designer Aurora James last summer during the George Floyd protest and BLM movement.

“I was blown away, to be honest,” said Aurora James about the news of Sephora Canada joining the pledge, as she was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario. “I was always hoping that Sephora Canada was going to commit to the pledge.”

Joining the commitment and announcing it to the public is a significant milestone for movement. Sephora’s values towards proactively giving back to BIPOC communities will surely be appreciated by many of its customers.
