Fandago Launches a Movie Theater Guide for Coronavirus Safety

Welcome back to movie theaters with “confidence and peace of mind!”

Under lockdown people have been watching countless hours of TV and movies on streaming services. But what they haven’t been able to do is watch a movie in an actual movie theater. Aware of the concerns some may have in returning to theaters, Fandango just launched its Theater Safety Updates

As restrictions ease up in degrees across the country, some movie theaters are reopening with various safety measures in place. But what about the theater near you? The Fandago update can let you know the date of its scheduled reopening, what safety measures are in place, and what movies it’s scheduled to show.

Even though some new releases are set for this summer, some theaters are beginning their summer reopening with runs of older movies, banking on people desiring the experience of watching in the theater even more than the experience of seeing something new.

The first new movie to be screened in theaters is Unhinged, to debut on July 10th. So, any theater opening earlier than that is not showing a new release. Like the drive-ins that were allowed to open much sooner, they attract people more for the experience of going out than for the movie itself.

Melissa Heller, Fandango’s vice president of domestic ticketing, noted, “In addition to our new product features, Fandango’s mobile ticketing will be an added benefit, helping moviegoers and cinema employees reduce the number of contact points at the box office and throughout the theater.”

So, if you’ve missed the coke and popcorn, this is the next big thing – as of now at least!
