Calling All DIYers: Take Part in the #BuildThanks Challenge

Watch and learn how Lowe’s will be remembered the "day after" (or DIY)

With everything that’s going on in the world, Lowe’s has dedicated a new #BuildThanks campaign to all the essential workers who are still going to work every day to help combat the spread of COVID-19 and to make sure that the economy (and our society) doesn’t entirely collapse.

Launched on April 6th, some say at the height of coronavirus, the home improvement store has asked Americans to get creative with supplies they already have at home to make thank-you signs and messages for medical professionals.

Essential workers usually refer to:

  • Healthcare and social care
  • Delivery people
  • Public and civil service
  • Transport – buses and taxis
  • Necessary goods, i.e., food and medicines

The idea behind #BuildThanks is to thank essential workers by creating your own DIY project. It also encourages creativity and experimentation for everyone while we’re stuck at home. Therefore, this challenge is not only keeping people busy as they self-isolate and quarantine, but it’s also for a good cause.

By encouraging Americans to make DIY thank-you signs for front line heroes, Lowe’s is not only interacting with its customers, it’s also drawing in positive brand perception. Those who like the challenge will surely remember it the “day after” and probably choose the company for its future home improvement needs.

To create an easy DIY thank you sign, Lowe’s has come up with a few creative projects that you can do with items around the house. It provides you with step-by-step instructions as well as an organized list of materials and tools that you will need. So, there is something for everyone.

The tools you might be missing right now, however, might actually remind you to get them (from Lowe’s) when this is all over. Again, truly a smart campaign in many different ways. Way to go, Lowe’s!

Moreover – this isn’t the first time Lowe has found creative ways to combat the virus.

Frontline employees who wear a uniform, like doctors and firefighters, risk spreading the virus to their families by taking their clothes home and washing them in their shared machines.

So, Lowe’s has donated washers and dryers to some local police and fire departments, allowing them to clean their uniforms and clothes before heading home.

Many are participating in the #BuildThanks Challenge and a lot of people are already posting their own DIYs on YouTube.

Will you be creating a thank you sign in the #BuildThanks Challenge?

We personally would like to send a heart-filled thanks to all the essential workers who are brave enough to get out there and go to work every day. Take care, stay safe, be healthy. The rest – stay home.
