A New Way to Shop With Friends (Without Compromising Social Distance)

Verishop launches “Shop Party” where users can hang out and shop together online over video

The Verishop app is a social shopping platform available free to iPhone users. The app allows users to discover brand-name products in various categories like apparel, accessories, cosmetics, and more and to enjoy personalized recommendations and style tips.

It now launched Shop Party, which Model, Martha Hunt, introduces by demonstrating her own hosted event in this video.

Verishop also explained what users need to do to set it up in its own introduction:

To access Shop Party, tap the blue party icon living on the bottom right of your Home Feed (first tab) and your Profile (last tab).

  1. Tap the Create button to first create your event.
  2. Fill out the Shop Party Details for your theme, date, time duration, event info, and Verishop Collections.
  3. Tap Create at the bottom of the event page once you’re done.
  4. On the Shop Party event page, tap the Invite icon to send the link to your friends to join the party.

Why you may want to try it

The incentive to use this even for those who are happy to shop solo is the special Shop Party promo code. It’s automatically applied at checkout within the half hour after the Shop Party’s scheduled end time, so long as at least two people attended the event.

Shop Party counts the host as one of the people, so a two-person party is shopping with just one other friend. You’re allowed to invite up to four people because the max allowed at one time is five.

It’s new but has been in the works

Jessica Anarella, head of product design at Verishop, told Glossy that the company was planning on this before COVID-19 redirected more shoppers from stores to online ordering because the trend to embrace more eCommerce for retail was already in place:

“The opportunity to introduce more social elements into eCommerce is something we’ve always planned to do, since launching the company two years ago,” Aranella told the magazine.

That’s good timing for the app. With all the social isolation, there are likely those who really miss going to stores in person along with their friends, and this is the next best thing.
