T-Mobile just rolled out a series of promotions aimed at getting more internet customers to switch to T-Mobile.
The internet provider is offering customers $500 rebates, in the form of MasterCard prepaid cards for switching to T-Mobile from their current provider. The rebate is meant to help new customers cover the cost of breaking their contract with other companies. The offer is part of T-Mobile’s larger Internet Freedom campaign.
In addition to the rebates, T-Mobile is offering an internet and mobile phone plan bundle. Customers can get home broadband internet service for $30 when they combine that plan with the Magenta MAX cellular plan. For $200 total, subscribers will get that broadband service and cellular service for up to four family members.

There are two other promotions users can take advantage of. Anywhere that people can access Home Internet, people can try T-Mobile for 15 days for free without having to cancel their current plan. T-Mobile is also rolling out T-Mobile Tuesdays. All summer long, consumers can get a $50 discount on any streaming device and 50% off YouTube TV.
T-Mobile’s latest offers are part of its branding as the “Un-carrier” of the internet and mobile industry. The tech company has positioned itself as the face of the opposition to “big internet.” “The Un-carrier was created to fix a stupid, broken wireless industry, and while we aren’t done, we’ve undoubtedly changed if for good. Now, with Internet Freedom, we’re taking on Big Internet and bringing the Un-carrier movement to broadband,” said Mike Sievert, T-Mobile’s CEO said.
Providers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are all competing for internet customers after developing 5G internet access. Collectively, those three companies have spent more than $100 billion building their 5G networks. 5G internet service is reportedly faster than pre-existing internet networks, and makes certain things like gaming and video conferencing more seamless.
The news of T-Mobile’s new promotion cutting prices comes after AT&T rose prices for older mobile packages by $6. Cable companies such as Charter Communications and Comcast, have seen internet customer growth decrease, but mobile growth increase, cutting into the business of AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.
