Sports Betting is Back! Who’s Winning?

While most sports leagues are still out, the data from one weekend of German football is showing promising signs

A couple of months ago, we spoke about how quarantine life caused a spike in online gaming.

One thing that contributed was that fact almost all major sports stopped. The second factor had something to do with so many people stuck at home, looking for entertainment, action, and escapism.

The result? Plenty sports bettors were turning to online games including casino, slots, poker, bingo, arcade games, and live casino.

BUT! The good news is that some sports are back. Meaning – sports betting is beginning to resume, as well.

European football (soccer) leagues are taking their first kicks back into the fields. The very first was the primary German league, the Bundesliga, on May 15, with others (hopefully!) soon to follow.

This should trigger gaming operators’ post-corona plan as with what we’re about to show you – it’s obvious that players and sports bettors are eager to start wagering again.

There’s clearly a sharp spike from this last weekend (May 15-16) when the European betting industry was finally able to start getting itself properly up and running again.

Germany saw a whopping jump back to 90% of bettors compared to the last Saturday pre-corona. Italy isn’t that far behind either with 77% vs that February 29th base Saturday.

It’s crystal clear that early trends are showing some very positive signs and not just for the German market itself.

How will the surge continue when even more teams come out to play? It’s a good question. An even better one is: when this “back to normal” will be really, all the way, “back to normal”? In other words, when should CRM marketers in gaming re-start their regular campaign activity? Check out this analysis for answers.
