  • A round-up of ads from brands that show how epic dads are – as well as the excitement for meeting people as lockdowns ease

Welcome to the eleventh part of PostFunnel’s “Ads We Loved” series!

Before we begin, make sure to check out the entire series here.

Now for this month, take a look at some of our faves:

Domino’s: Domin-oh-hoo-hoo

The film begins with a young man on his balcony yodeling pizza orders to his friends. His friends hear the rallying call and yodel that they’d love a pizza. This ad is a refreshing take on post-lockdown reunions and encourages families and friends to reconnect with a Domino’s pizza.

Burger King: Miss You

Burger King’s tongue-in-cheek ad depicts the irritating but endearing habits of its customers, ranging from screaming children to that guy who works all day from the restaurant while ordering just a coffee. An ode to difficult diners, the ad is Burger King’s way of saying “We miss you” to its customers.

Subway: #TimeForASub

Subway celebrates football get-togethers for this month’s Euros. In the spot, a host holds a get-together to watch the game ‘substituting’ mates who get in the way of that perfect moment, including substituting one friend who gets the food delivery wrong for another who upgrades to a Subway bundle.

Nike: Toxic Football

This 52-spot ad features a nasty talking football dishing toxic old-school advice to players.  Midway into the rant, Marcus Rushford, forward for Manchester United and the England national team, kicks the ball off the screen. The action is Nike’s way of addressing and putting an end to toxic masculinity and gender inequality in football.

Moonpig: Father’s Day

Moonpig’s Father’s Day spot depicts a man choosing the perfect card for his dad with an animated pig character showing off as a golfing pro, an alien, and an astronaut. Moonpig’s spot inspires everyone to connect with the people they love, no matter the moment.

McDonald’s: Hungry Eyes

Set to the 1980s track Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen, McDonald’s focuses on the expressive nature of people’s eyes as they experience their (or someone else’s!) McDelivery moment. The ad brings to life the anticipation, excitement, and pleasure that goes with a McDelivery.

KitKat: Remote Meeting Magic

Two magical fellows squabble over who is on mute during a remote meeting only to finally find peace when biting into a KitKat. KitKat’s light-hearted campaign reminds us of what a difference a break makes when life’s little frustrations get to us.
