Ads We Loved February: Super Bowl Edition

Stars and pop-culture figures make a comeback for Super Bowl 2022

What you’ll read: Check out a rundown of favorite ads of the 2022 Super Bowl and why we loved them.

Planet Fitness: What’s Gotten Into Lindsay?

This ad follows Mean Girls star, Lindsay Lohan, as she experiences the effects of a good workout: sharp memory, improved productivity, better sleep, and an elevated mood. We love how this jovial and star-studded ad promotes wellness and community.

Pringles: Stuck In

A Pringles fan reaches for the last crisp in the can and gets his hand “stuck in” as a result. From there, we follow the man’s milestone moments— from a first date to raising children, all while enduring the hilarious consequences of being stuck. We love how the ad uses the real-life experiences of Pringles to deliver humor.

BMW: Zeus & Hera

Zeus, retired Greek god oflightning, struggles with earthly electronics and nagging mortal neighbors’ requests to charge their electric golf carts and hedge trimmers. Seeing his frustration, his wife, Hera, reignites Zeus’s mojo by gifting him an all-electric BMW iX.

We love this electrifying and humorous ad for giving us a surprising  story about Greek gods.

Hellmann:  Mayo Tackles Food Waste

Former NFL linebacker Jerod Mayo tackles anyone thinking about throwing out food rather than making it into another food — using mayonnaise. Even Grandma isn’t safe. We love how Hellmann uses humor to spread awareness about food waste.

General Motors: Dr. EV-il

Dr. Evil has taken over the General Motors headquarters and is plotting world domination. But his hench-woman informs him that climate change is now the biggest threat to the planet, so he’ll first have to save it with GM’s lineup of electric vehicles if he wants to get back on top. We love how GM uses storytelling to promote electric vehicles in a relevant and memorable way.

Planters: Feed the Debate

Ken Jeong and Joel McHale argue on the best way to enjoy Planter’s Mixed Nuts. Joel insists on eating handfuls of nuts at once, while Ken believes nuts should be eaten one at a time. Their argument leads to a huge national debate on how to eat Planter’s Mixed Nuts. We love this ad for using the relatable theme of  culture wars to promote  Mixed Nuts.

Lays: Golden Memories

From a road trip across the Americas singing Shania Twain’s “Still the One,”  to buying a haunted house with a ghost inside, Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen relive their best moments and realize that Lay’s has always been present throughout their lives:

We love this ad for taking us through a hilarious walk down memory lane.
